Cross Country Skiing at Grand Mesa
Kick start your new year exercise routine with some of the best cross country skiing in the world. Cross country skiing on the Grand Mesa is the perfect way to get exercise while having fun. The Grand Mesa is a short, yet beautiful, ride East of Grand Junction. This breathtaking area is composed of public land filled with groomed and un-groomed trails the wind throughout the US National Forest.
Colorado gets plenty of snow in the winter so snow conditions are ideal until March meaning that now is the perfect time to head out and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Skyway, County Line and Ward Lake are all groomed trailheads located on the Grand Mesa that are perfect for cross country skiing. If you prefer un-groomed trails, West Bench, Waterdog Trail and Lake of the Woods trailheads are the best spots for you.
If you don’t feel confident skiing try your hand a snowshoeing. You will get just as much of a workout and see just as much of your surroundings.
